Derby’s Kaeson Fisher-Brown – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by WSU Tech

Kaeson Fisher-Brown has been a star for the Derby Panthers in the first month of the season.

The Panthers are off to a 5-1 start, with their only loss coming to an undefeated league foe in Maize South.

Fisher-Brown, a senior, has averaged 20.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

“My mindset this season has just been to go out there and win. We have all the pieces and the system for our team to be great,” Fisher-Brown said.

Fisher-Brown’s hot start isn’t a fluke. Derby coach Brett Flory has commented on his star’s work ethic on twitter calling him the “hardest working player he’s had.”

Derby has produced some good guards, and Fisher-Brown is looking to be the one that can get the Panthers their first state championship.

“I just continue to work. It’s great to know that other people see the kind of work I put in, but there’s still a lot to do,” Fisher-Brown said.

Fisher-Brown knows that he can’t do it all himself, though, and credits his teammates massively.

“It all starts with my teammates trusting me, without that I wouldn’t be able to step up the way I have,” Fisher-Brown said.

Fisher-Brown plays with a chip on his shoulder and one that has caught the eye of many schools at the next level including Newman University where he will play basketball next season.

He committed to Newman in October.

“It’s great knowing that I get to stay home and play for coach (RJ) Allen,” Fisher-Brown said. “I’ll be able to work out with the same trainers, see my family and continue working while doing what I love.”

Despite all of the current accolades, Fisher-Brown has made it clear that he isn’t done and plans to continue to work because he isn’t satisfied yet.
