Derby’s Collin Meyer – Golf Spotlight – Presented by Uplink

The senior golfer from Derby Collin Meyer is hoping to finish off the season strong. With the postseason in sight for the golf team, Meyer is looking to continue shooting well. Meyer has set a score for every meet this season. “An individual goal is being consistently under 78.”

With the individual goal Meyer set for himself, he is looking forward to some fun during the postseason. Some meets Meyer is most looking forward to are Regionals and State. The area regional meet for Derby will be at their home course, so Meyer has had plenty of practice to get him ready for this big competition. Meyer told Vype Magazine he is also looking forward to traveling with the team to the state meet.

Over the summer, Meyer spent time on the course to help his golf game at The Derby Country Club. Meyer spent time practicing his swing, and he spent time playing to work on his game as a whole.

As a junior last season, Meyer decided to try out for the golf team. It was his first year to play, but did well and was proud of his accomplishments during the season. Not only did he play on the varsity team, he also lettered for The Derby Panthers.

After graduation just a few weeks away, Meyer has figured out which degree he would like to pursue. He told Vype Magazine he would like to major in engineering, but Meyer is still undecided on which college to attend. The two main schools in the running are Fort Hays State or Pitt State.

Away from the golf course, Meyer enjoys spending time fishing and working. During the fall high school season, Meyer plays soccer for Derby, but he is also involved in club soccer as well.
