Derby’s Addyson Canfield – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Uplink

Derby softball player Addyson Canfield told VYPE in a recent interview “My favorite part of being on this team is the relationships I have with my teammates on and off the field. We always have fun together which makes it easier to play together but we know when it’s time to focus up and get the job done”.

Canfield went on to share “My sport has taught be discipline. If I want something I have to work for it which can go for almost anything. Every outing might not be my best outing but the same goes for off the field, everyday might not be the best day but you have to push through and get out of it regardless of the situation or obstacle”.

Not only is she involved in softball, but she is also “active in Nation Honor Society and a student leader in FCA. I enjoy volunteering and community work and am passionate about my community. I am also deeply rooted in my faith and am very vocal about it. I enjoy spreading God’s word to others through FCA, social media, and in person”. In addition, Canfield participates in Americorps. Saying “I go to El Paso Elementary School on the days I don’t have classes at the high school and help K-2nd graders with math, social studies, and science along with helping teacher with their classroom needs”.

By the end of the interview Canfield was giving a shout out to the two people she could never thank enough. “My dad has spent countless hours on a bucket, playing catch, and hitting with me. I couldn’t thank him enough and will cherish all the time we spend together forever. My mom is always the first one to volunteer to come video and watch me whenever I ask and has seen my first swing with every new bat I’ve gotten. She is always there whenever I need to talk whether it be about softball or anything else and is truly my best friend. They have been there for all the wins and losses and I am so blessed to call my biggest supporters and fans my parents. I would also love to thank the staff at True Physical Therapy and Kelsey Dilsaver for helping me recover from my ACL injuries. This would have all been impossible without them”.
