Recently, VYPE had the privilege to talk to and to find out more about Derby High School senior athlete Colton Ruedy.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
Ruedy: My personal goal for this year is to be a leader for this team and to continue to improve each day.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Ruedy: The most fun I had was making state last year in baseball.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
Ruedy: My favorite teacher has to be Mrs. Robl from last year because she would let us play baseball in her room.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Ruedy: My favorite athletic memory was this year in football at sub-state when I gained 180 yards and scored three touchdowns.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Ruedy: The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Colby Morgan because he is just such a hard worker.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Ruedy: My favorite part about being on this team is how close we all are. That’s what makes us so special, and it is why I think we can make a run at state this year.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
Ruedy: I would go on a cruise with all my guys in the senior class for a little senior vacation.
VYPE: If we gave you $5000 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Ruedy: I would get a lot of shoes, a new custom glove and bat, and some fitted hats.
VYPE: What other sports, activities, or community service projects do you participate in, and how have these helped to prepare you for the future?
Ruedy: I play football, fish, and I do a lot of outside activities. I also go to church. I think all of that has prepared me well for my future.
