Derby athlete Madison Smith spoke to VYPE in a recent interview expressing that “I would say as my personal goal I want to be the best leader for the underclassmen and help make our team better each game to get us to state”.
“My favorite part of being on this team is how close everyone is. We have great team chemistry and get along very well and it makes being apart of this team so much fun” said Smith. Among the members of her team Smith was most impacted by former Derby Panther – Addy Brown. Smith shared “she was definitely the best leader I’ve had in this program and made me want to be that great of a leader and person in general”.
Throughout her athletic career Smith has learned to “deal with adversity in any situation and how to be apart of a team” and gathered inspiration from her mom “because of how hard she works and she always pushes me to do my best in everything”.
Also sharing “I would like to say thank you to my parents and my coaches for pushing me to do the best I can and always being there for me”.
