Q&A with Derby’s Ella Boline – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Keto ON Kerri

Derby athlete Ella Boline interviewed with VYPE to discuss here life.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

I’d like to do well in all my classes and maintain good grades. As for tennis, I want to place in regionals and make it to state in order to have that experience. Beyond that, I want to continue to improve my game.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Recently, the most fun I’ve had was during a dinner before the Homecoming dance. But really, anytime  I’m hanging out with my friends is fun.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Schock, my current English teacher. I really appreciate her teaching style, it’s made me realize how much I actually like writing and analyzing literature.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is during a tennis match when I came back from a 0-4 deficit in an early round. I went on to get 2nd overall.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Chloe Palavan, who was a senior. Last year as a freshman on varsity, she made me feel like I was a part of the team.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part of being on the team is how easy it is to talk amongst ourselves. Everyone gets along and is supportive of each other.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

If I could go anywhere for vacation I would go to Vienna, Austria and I would take my family with me.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

If you gave me $500 (thanks) I would put half of it in an interest-accruing savings account. The other half will be spent frivolously.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

A community service project I volunteer for is the Derby Community Food Pantry.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

When tennis season is over, I’ll be participating in Scholar’s Bowl, which I’ve done for the past three years, along with Writer’s Club and Kay Club.
