Derby cross country member Lucas Kruetzer was recently interviewed by VYPE to discuss this season.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals for the year are to get good grades. Be a great leader on and off the field. Sports wise I would like to make state for all three of my sports Cross Country, Boys Swim and Dive, and Track and Field.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I’ve had in the last year is when my Family and I get to spend time at the Lake.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Fritts my homeroom teacher, she also teaches Clay Fundamentals at Derby High School. You can truly tell she loves teaching and is there to help each and everyone of the students. Overall an amazing teacher to me and my classmates.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory has to be my Freshmen year. The Boys Varsity Track and Field team took first place at the league meet beating Maize by 1 point.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Issac Brown has left the biggest impression on me. He graduated last year, but he took me under his wing from the start of my freshman year. He supported me on and off the field. I have learned so much from him and plan to pay it forward.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

There are so many favorite things about this team that I love. The team bond that we share is amazing, we all want the best for one another.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

Summer Vacation Panama City FL with my family and girlfriend Layla!

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

If you gave me $500 I would go on a shopping spree.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

No, but I would love to start.
