Derby Volleyball Player Madison McGovern recently interviewed with VYPE before hitting the court with her team.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals for this year are to get better stats than last year and I want to get an A in math.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
I went on a Disney Cruise in February and that was a blast.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My favorite teacher is Mr. Adams from my junior year. He’s a great teacher and always made class fun. He’s one of those teachers that allows you to joke around but also makes sure you’re doing what you need to do to succeed in his class.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory would have to be during my freshman year when Coach Nac (Johnson now) gave me the nickname Gov. it has stuck all the way through my senior year.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Tatum Boettjer left the biggest impact on me during my freshman year. She was always so helpful and was always positive on and off the court. I remember watching her play and wanting to be as good as her one day.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part about being on this team is making memories with everyone. There is never a dull moment at practice and the best part about being on this team is that you see everyone grow as people and as players.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I would go to Maine because my family has a cabin there and I’d bring my two older brothers.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would buy a black and white Boston Terrier and a goldfish.
