VYPE sat down with Derby’s Cooper Chadwick to discuss his experience as a high school athlete.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals for this year are to graduate high school and have an amazing senior year.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I have had has been this basketball season and getting third at state.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My favorite teacher is my journalism teacher; my mom.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory is probably winning on a buzzer-beater after 4 overtimes this year against Washburn rural to make it to state.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Probably Caleb brown because this year he was always positive no matter what and he was just an awesome teammate.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of this team is the fun we have on and off the court and how we are like a family.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I would go to Hawaii and I would take my two brothers.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would spend it on shoes and clothes and food.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I coach for the Padre’s basketball organization.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
Journalism and yearbook, because my mom is the teacher and I like to know what’s going on.
VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
Yes, I am involved in NHS and have been for three years.
