Derby’s Simon Rocco spoke to VYPE about what he hopes his senior year will look like.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
To graduate high school.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Going to state in Swim as an alternate.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
Ms. Topping, 6th Grade – she taught Take Flight. She changed my life by helping me to read and speak English more fluently.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Going to the state championship with my swim team.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Will McCabe is on the swim team. He taught me to never give up and to always keep going.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Being able to fill in anywhere and get us the points we need.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
California with my friends.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I wouldn’t spend it. I’m a saver.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I’ve done clean-up activities with my church. We have cleaned the high school and helped people in the community clean up their yards.
