Derby’s Rebekah Walsh – FCA Spotlight

Derby High School senior Rebekah Walsh is a member of the varsity tennis team and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Walsh said it was her tennis partner who first got her involved in FCA.

“I first got involved in FCA at the start of this year. My teammate and doubles partner, Charis Yager got me involved in it,” said Walsh. “There is a really good sense of community at every meeting, and I’ve made some really good friends through it. I also have gotten closer to the Lord by listening and participating in our group discussions.”

As a member of the FCA, Walsh said she has become closer to some of her teammates and her partner on the court. Being part of this team is something Walsh truly enjoys.

“What I love most about my team is the themed Friday’s we have started doing. What I love most about my teammates is how encouraging everyone is, even if they just say, “you got this,” or just giving me a little smile,” said Walsh.

This season, Walsh has already met one of her goals.

“I have high expectations for myself this season. I already beat one of my goals by making varsity and now I’m hoping to place at regionals and go to state with my partner,” said Walsh.
Walsh said if a student-athlete was interested in FCA she would it’s a great place to worship and meet new people.

“Most of the people that attend I would’ve never known were Christian until I saw them there,” said Walsh.
