Derby cross country standout Katie Hazen has been running since she was eight years old. Find out what she loves about the sport and what are plans are once she has graduated from Derby High School.
VYPE: What do you love about competing in cross country?
Hazen: I love how we all push each other and try to run the best we can.
VYPE: What do you think about on long runs or when you’re competing?
Hazen: I like to try and do long runs with friends. Having someone to talk to makes the miles go faster. When I’m competing, I think about trying to stay with the person in front of me.
VYPE: What is the longest run you have completed?
Hazen: A half marathon in 2018.
VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate from Derby HS?
Hazen: I’d like to run in college and hopefully go to medical school.
