Liam Coultis of Derby is most known for being one of the top wrestlers at the 126 weight class. Coultis took eighth at regionals last season.
But it is what he does outside of school that Coultis has a passion for.
Coultis is an outdoorsman, who likes to fish, hunt and ski.
“Being outdoors give me a nice break from sports and school and helps me relax and be at ease,” Coultis said.
While he likes to participate in all outdoor sports, there is one that Coultis likes the best.
“I like fishing the best because I can do it almost year round, and it doesn’t take much prep time,” Coultis said. “I can do it even if I only have an hour or two. Also, I can catch and release and don’t necessarily have to keep the fish I catch.”
Each Christmas and birthday, Coultis usually asks for some improvement to his equipment. Some is more expensive than others.
“Every Christmas and birthday, I ask for equipment and apparel for my outdoor activities,” Coultis said. “I have thousands of dollars’ worth of fishing equipment – fishing rods and reels and bait, etc. I’ve received a crossbow and a recurve bow for Christmas, and I bought a compound bow with work money. I spend most of my money on outdoor gear.”
