Derby’s Diego Vaquera spoke to VYPE in a recent interview about his soccer career.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

Finish and graduate school, discover a different career, and I want to succeed.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Worlds of fun with friends.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

Greene – Knew when I was going in the wrong direction, but made me rethink life and the way I was going.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Playing soccer with all of my childhood friends that I’ve had since elementary school.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Angel Velmas – he pushes me to be a better player every time we play.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

Being able to travel out of the state during the summer, play tournaments, and the chemistry we all have when we play.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

I would use the money to pay for bills and help my parents, maybe I’d take them to dinner.

VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
