Q&A with Derby’s Peyton Neptune – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

Derby wrestler Peyton Neptune spoke with VYPE in a recent interview.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals this year is obviously to win state but I guess another one would be.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Favorite athletic memory would definitely be our team winning state last year and not everyone gets to experience that so winning that would definitely be my favorite athletic memory.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me would have to be Miles Wash and not just because he’s my best friend but because he was my practice partner up until this year and when it came to wrestling matches and tournaments if I won I wanted him to lose but I would have to say I was one of his biggest supporters but I was also one of his biggest haters but he definitely left the biggest impression on me.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part about being on this team would have to be how close we all are to each other most of us are very good friends outside of wrestling and I like how everyone is a leader and not just one of us.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I don’t really participate in any community service projects unless our coach sets one up for the teams.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

This sport has taught me discipline because being discipline in wrestling is knowing that I’m a senior and I need to be a leader in that room and being disciplined outside of wrestling is doing what I’m supposed to do at like home, etc.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

I would say my dad inspires me the most because he passed away my freshman year and I feel like I have to be great for him.
