VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?
Carson: My personal goals are to get a sectional time in the 100 fly, and for my medley relay to get our school’s record. I hope to help my team win league again and contribute at state.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Carson: The most fun I’ve had in the last year is at Pro-Ams. The meet was fun, and afterwards some of my teammates and I went to a resort for a few days.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?
Carson: My favorite teacher is Mr. Holland, my teacher in AP chemistry. AP chem is a hard class, but he makes it fun.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Carson: My favorite athletic memory is from this year’s Phillips 66 Meet of Champions in Oklahoma. Most of us didn’t do very well, but it was still fun. A bunch of us stood on the podium and danced, and we got one of my coaches to do it too.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Carson: I’ve only been practicing with DHS for a few weeks, but Laci Simon is clearly one of the most influential and respected athletes. She’s now a senior, but I met her a few years ago on a summer swim team. She’s always been supportive, and she helped me get over some of my worries and look forward to this season. She helps hold the team together, and always works hard. She is a great teammate and a great person in general.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Carson: I have not seen any impressions of our coach yet.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Carson: I would love to do a European vacation and see historic buildings like the Parthenon and Colosseum.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Carson: With $500 I would either buy books or a new tech suit.
