VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?
Mia: For this year’s season for myself I am wanting to come back stronger and faster than the previous season. In my personal events (100 freestyle and 100 backstroke) I am wanting to cut two or more seconds in each event. For us as a team I would like to win league like we did last year, also get as many girls as we can qualified for state.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Mia: The most fun I’ve had in the last year was either winning league which was very fun and exciting because we all swim well in our events. But also, state was a very fun and big experience.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?
Mia: My favorite coach is Al Stephenson from my old club team I used to be on because I would not be the swimmer I am today without his help. He had taught me a lot about the sport and how to be successful in it.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Mia: My favorite athletic memory is when I qualified for state in the 100 backstroke last year because I was milliseconds off from the time and finally got it towards the end of the season.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Mia: There is not just one teammate in general that has left a big impression I think that just all of us as a team has really pushed me to be better, and being connected and there for each other has left a big impression on me.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Mia: I think that we all have an impression of our coach there is not just one of us. And I would say we all like to joke around during practices and meets. We all love to have fun and make each other laugh.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Mia: I would go somewhere tropical on the beach, and I would bring my family with me.
VYPE: If you had $500 and had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Mia: I had $500 I would buy some new clothes and presents for my friends and family.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish. Mia: I would like to say thank you to my parents for always pushing and supporting me. I would also like to thank my coaches as well for everything they do. And for all the girls on the team for being there and so kind and hard-working.
